Ahsoka‘s penultimate episode just debuted on Disney+ and it certainly raised the stakes for the titular character and her comrades. It also featured the surprise return of a beloved classic character in C-3PO.
As a long-time Star Wars fan, returning old favourites never fail to put a smile on my face. The episode began with Syndulla in a courtroom on Coruscant. She is being grilled by senators on her recent actions and is repeatedly pulled up on her supposed rule-breaking by Senator Xiono who warns her against disobeying orders.
He then disputes the credibility of Syndulla’s report, arguing that it reads like a “fairytale” because it mentions Jedi, star maps, star whales, and other galaxies. It’s a slightly odd notion that any character in the Star Wars universe would find these things unusual, but I digress.
Just as things start heating up in the courtroom, in walks C-3PO. He’s there on behalf of Senator Leia Organa, who has submitted a data transcript to help resolve issues relating to Syndulla’s mission to Seatos. After a short explanation from C-3PO, Mon Mothma decides there are no remaining issues to discuss and dismisses the court.
Naturally, a part of me was hoping Leia herself would make an appearance. And I’m sure many other viewers were hoping to see her, too. Obviously, this would be extremely unlikely. But what exactly was the character up to during the time period Ahsoka covers?
Where is Leia Organa in Ahsoka?
Leia Organa is the leader of the Defense Council during Ahsoka and is a senator in the New Republic.
Exact details of what the Defense Council does and Leia’s role in it are minimal. It was first mentioned in the debut episode of Ahsoka and has been referred to sparingly since.
However, it appears the Defense Council oversees the military operations of the New Republic. Therefore, as its leader, Leia has significant influence over individual missions and the sanctioning of them.
While this is merely my own speculation, it is likely that C-3PO acts on Leia’s behalf due to her needing to focus on other senate commitments. The real-life reason for C-3PO filling in for Leia in Ahsoka is that Carrie Fisher – the actor who portrayed Leia – passed away in 2016.
How old is Leia in Ahsoka?
While Leia is not seen in-person in Ahsoka, figuring out her approximate age at the time of its events is relatively simple.
Ashoka is set following the events of Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (which takes place in 4 ABY when Leia is 23 years old). While the exact years Ashoka takes place have not been specified by the show’s creators, it is believed to be set between 9-12 ABY.
This puts Leia Organa’s age between 28-31 years old during Ahsoka.
