Starfield: How to land at New Atlantis – Not cleared for landing

New Atlantis in Starfield with the "Not cleared for landing" message displayed

This guide explains how to land at New Atlantis and other settlements when the “Not cleared for landing” message is displayed.

Starfield promised players the opportunity to explore the galaxy and discover hundreds of different planets. On that front, it has not disappointed.

Some of those planets even have their own cities. One such metropolis is New Atlantis on the planet Jemison in the Alpha Centuri system.

New Atlantis is the capital city of the United Colonies. As such, it has some of the tightest security in the galaxy.

When I tried to visit New Atlantis (and other cities), I found myself unable to land at my chosen destination. On the planet map, the location icons were greyed out instead of white. This was accompanied by a “Not cleared for landing” message.

This happened when I fast travelled directly to a location on the planet away from the main settlement of New Atlantis.

So, let’s go over how to land at New Atlantis and other cities when the “Not cleared for landing” message is displayed.

How to land at New Atlantis in Starfield - Not cleared for landing

I worked out that this is how to land at New Atlantis in Starfield when the “Not cleared for landing” message is displayed:

As the message suggests, players are unable to land because they haven’t obtained the proper clearance from spaceport authorities.

To obtain clearance, return to orbit around the planet and wait for the authorities to give you clearance for landing. This happens automatically. Provided you aren’t carrying any contraband, clearance will be granted quickly.

Once cleared, you are free to land anywhere on the planet and enjoy everything it has to offer.

On future visits, it is best to “Set course” to the planet and travel into its orbit before landing on the surface. This way, you will be cleared immediately and won’t face any restrictions.
