Derelict Roblox game: What is it and should you play it?

Robox is the incredibly successful gaming platform that hosts a vast library of user-created content. The quality and nature of its games vary widely and there are some bona fide smash hits. Best of all, new games appear all the time. And many have the potential to attract huge player bases in a small amount of time. One such new Roblox game is called Derelict, which you may have seen on YouTube, TikTok, and elsewhere. But what is it and is it worth checking out?

What is Derelict game on Roblox?

Derelict is a new ‘Soulslike’ role-playing game available on Roblox that is based on Dark Souls and Elden Ring. It is made by developer Scrambledly Studios and recommended for players age 13+ due to moderate/repeated violence and realistic/light blood.

It is currently in early alpha, meaning it is playable but not complete. Derelict was first made available on Roblox on 29 May 2022 and has received regular updates since then.

How many people play Derelict on Roblox?

Derelict has received 741,000 visits as of 01 September 2023. Considering the game is still far from complete, this is pretty impressive.

It has been favourited 34,893 times and averages a few thousand active players at any given time.

Can you create your own character in Derelict?

Derelict allows players to create their own character. This is the first thing you do when you start the game. Its character creation includes the following customisable features:

• Body colour
• Gender
• Hair style and colour
• Eye shape and colour
• Mouth shape and facial hair
• Scars and marks

Difficulty modes

There are four difficulty modes in Derelict. They are:

• Relaxed
• Standard
• Challenging
• Extreme

Despite allowing difficulty selection, Derelict currently forces you to play in ‘Extreme’. The exact reason for this is unclear, however it is likely related to the game still being in early alpha and incomplete.

How many players are on a server in Derelict?

Derelict features 20-player servers. This means you will encounter other players in Derelict and can engage in PvP. However, the inclusion of other players in Derelict has been the subject of criticism from players who would prefer a more authentic solo Soulslike experience.

Level cap

The maximum level players can attain in Derelict is 40. In earlier versions of the game, the level cap was lower and it has since been raised.

This means there’s a good chance it will be raised further as more updates for the game are rolled out.

Derelict has a control scheme reminiscent of Soulsborne video games. Aside from generic movement controls, its primary controls are as follows:

• Mouse (left) – Attack
• Tap Mouse (right) – Parry after a windup
• Hold Mouse (right) – Block
• Jump + Mouse (left) – Aerial Attack
• Q – Roll
• Hold Shift – Sprint
• LCtrl – Lock On

Derelict includes many Soulslike and RPG genre hallmarks. When playing Derelict, players can expect the following features:

• Voice acting, quests and NPCs
• Camps, towns and cities
• Automatic lock-on during combat
• Skill stats (these level up by performing actions that correspond with the skill)
• Party system (co-operative play)
• Looting and inventory management

Derelict reviews and user score

While Derelict is far from the most popular Roblox game, players have responded well to it. It currently has a user score of 81% based on 10.8K votes.

This should be considered a good score given the game is still in early alpha. It is incomplete and features a number of bugs and glitches. However, players appear to be enjoying it enough to give it a positive score despite these issues.
