Season 4 of Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare II only arrived a few weeks ago but the mid-season Reloaded update is already here. While Season 3 Reloaded boasted a significant amount of new content, this season’s interstitial update consists of The Boys themed Operator skins, a new multiplayer map, a new shotgun, and not much else. However, players are also reporting that unexpected Warzone FPS drops are plaguing the game after the launch of Season 4 Reloaded.

Posting to Twitter, the popular Call of Duty fan page ModernWarzone wrote: “Seems to be some major frame rate issues on PC with the Season 4 reloaded update in Warzone. Myself and tons of others went from 160+ FPS last update to only hitting a max of 80 FPS on Vondel today and major hitching issues. [GeForce RTX] 4090 BTW”.

In response, other players agreed that they have also seen a drop in the number of frames-per-second they are getting when playing Warzone after the Season 4 Reloaded update. User @CCopy_ said, “same 4090 and it feels like im playing on a gameboy”.

Things aren’t any different over on Reddit, either. Writing on the r/Warzone subreddit in a post titled “This f*ck up is different”, u/sandtonian_gbo said: “I’ve often read people complaining about FPS drops after new updates but I’ve never seen it this widespread.”

Speculating on the cause of the performance issues, they hypothesised that it is because the developers have “introduced features into Ricochet that are hammering CPU or it’s the The Boys stuff that’s doing it, all the high jumping, teleporting, laser eye, etc.”

Infinity Ward’s official Call of Duty Updates page have addressed the reports. On Twitter, they said: “We’re investigating reports of reduced performance for some PC Players.” They also shared a link to the official Trello board where the list of known issues now includes the new performance problems.

At present, the FPS drops do not appear to impacting players on PlayStation or Xbox.

I also have a lot less fps than before the reloaded update. in warzone instead of 110 fps only 50. but also in multiplayer instead of 120 only 80. warzone is no longer playable in my eyes.
