The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is here at last. The sprawling open-world contains a lot to discover. The game is deep and has a range of different gameplay mechanics for players to get to grips with. A large element of Tears of the Kingdom is resource gathering. This incudes raw materials and food.

Early on in the game you will come across a variety of different food items like apples and mushrooms. Some of these can be roasted to bring out additional benefits like status effects and enhanced healing. However, knowing how to roast food can be a bit tricky if you’ve not done it before.

This is how to roast food in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom: Press + and go to the Materials tab. Select the item you want to roast e.g. Skyshroom and select “Hold”. Use the cursor to choose where to put the item and press A to drop it next to the fire. The food will quickly catch fire – but don’t worry, it isn’t burning – it will soon turn into a roasted item.

Once the food is cooked, it can be picked up and stored in your inventory. When consumed, the roasted food will bestow additional effects when compared with the uncooked food.

It is a good idea to roast food in bulk when a camp fire is available. This will ensure that you will have the best resources to hand if and when you need them.
