Announced back in September 2022, Assassin’s Creed Mirage has sat without a confirmed release date on the 2023 slate for quite some time. Many retailers are billing the game’s launch date as “TBC 2023” or are using 31 December as a placeholder. However, one GameStop employee has leaked internal information that suggests the game will release in August.
Posting to the r/GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, the user wrote: “I work at a GameStop (mods can verify with me if they want) and our computer has marketing for upcoming games, including Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which doesn’t have a release date yet.”
To accompany the post, the user shared a picture they had apparently taken of a computer screen. Based on the post’s caption, this picture purportedly shows the marketing schedule for upcoming releases. Assassin’s Creed Mirage is shown as being scheduled for August.
Other users were quick to point out that placeholders should not be taken as evidence of a confirmed release date. To add to the confusion, the GameStop employee went into the system to double check which date was listed internally. “Can confirm, Gamestop placeholder date is 12/31/23,” they said. They also shared another picture showing the December date listed against Assassin’s Creed Mirage on a computer screen.
With the official release date for Assassin’s Creed Mirage yet to be announced, it is all but confirmed that the game will not launch until the latter end of 2023 if it does in fact arrive this year. Consequently, August seems like the earliest possible date fans can expect to get their hands on the game.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is being billed as “a modern take on the features and gameplay that have defined a franchise for 15 years.” Returning to the series’ roots, it follows Basim, “a cunning street thief with nightmarish visions seeking answers and justice” in Baghdad during the Islamic Golden Age.
