The full release of the survival horror classic is set for 24 March 2023 but the previously announced Resident Evil 4 demo is getting a surprise launch today.
Twitch users are reporting that a new Resident Evil 4 advert has appeared on the platform. It ends with the words “demo available now”.
This advert seems to have gone live earlier than planned. Capcom has a scheduled digital presentation – Capcom Spotlight – scheduled for later on today. They have already announced that Resident Evil 4 will feature at the event.
The Capcom Spotlight stream will start at 10:30pm GMT / 2:30pm PT / 5:30pm ET on Thursday, 9 March. The Resident Evil 4 demo will presumably go live after the stream has concluded.
The original Resi 4 is often considered among the best video games ever made – it is a true survival horror gem. And the new remake is set to bring that excellent experience to modern hardware. A free demo is the perfect way to tout the technical and graphical improvements of the remake to potential buyers.

This is how to download the Resident Evil 4 demo on PS5, PS4, Xbox, and PC:
- The demo will launch after the Capcom Spotlight online event concludes – it begins at 10:30pm GMT / 2:30pm PT / 5:30pm ET.
- Navigate to your chosen platform’s digital store (PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, or Steam).
- Enter “Resident Evil 4” in the search bar.
- Select the “Resident Evil 4 Chainsaw demo” from the results and download in the usual way.
UPDATE 10 March: The Chainsaw demo is now live on digital storefronts. It takes approximately 15 minutes to complete a single play-through.
