This guide explains how to change spells in Forspoken.

Square Enix’s new action RPG Forspoken has finally landed on PS5 and PC as the first AAA launch of 2023.

Despite promising trailers, the game has been met with a somewhat mixed reception. Nonetheless, there’s a fair amount to like about it. And players are eagerly getting stuck in to the magical world of Athia.

Forspoken comes from developers Luminous Productions. It stars Ella Balinska (Netflix’s Resident Evil) as Frey Holland.

Frey is a New York City girl down on her luck and facing jail time. In a crazy twist of fate, she ends up in Athia after finding an enchanted cuff.

In Forspoken, Frey faces off against the Tantas. They are a tyrannical ruling clan that control Athia. Frey must use her freshly discovered magical powers to explore the mysterious continent, defeat dangerous foes, and find her way home.

Athia is a huge fantasy open-world. Thankfully, Frey can make use of unique traversal mechanics to dash and fly across the massive world using magical parkour.

Not only is the world large, it’s also incredibly dangerous. Luckily, Frey can use magic spells against her enemies.

There are a lot of spells to choose from in Forspoken. And that has led to many players asking how to change spells.

So, let’s go over how to change spells in Forpsoken

How To Change Spells In Forspoken

As you collect Mana and progress through Forspoken, it is possible to unlock more spells that Frey can use.

Spells are split into two categories: offensive and defensive/passive. And it’s possible to have a number of these equipped at any one time.

With it being possible to equip multiple spells, it’s also possible to swap between them in the middle of fights as needed.

This is how to change spells in Forspoken: Open one of the spell wheels with R1 (offensive) or L1 (defensive/passive) and use the right stick to pick your desired spell. Once chosen, cast the spell with L2 or R2.

In Forspoken, it is common to come up against multiple enemies at the same time. As a result, changing spells is essential but also tricky.

Thankfully, swapping between incantations is quick and simple. And it allows you to get on top of any fight by making use of Frey’s entire magical arsenal.
