We are all familiar with killer dolls. They’ve been a mainstay in the horror genre for decades. From Chucky to Annabelle, their uncanny almost-human appearance coupled with a sadistic urge to kill makes for nerve-wracking viewing. The new movie M3GAN has been January’s surprise hit. And it incorporates a new twist on the genre. But does M3GAN have a post-credits scene?
Before we get into that, let’s go over the premise of the movie.
M3GAN follows a young girl, Cady, after the tragic loss of her parents. After their death, Cady goes to live with her aunt Gemma, who works as a roboticist at tech company Funki.
Gemma has been working on a robot called M3GAN. M3GAN is based on an advanced artificial intelligence that is designed to be a companion and protector to young children. She is also intended to work alongside caregivers and guardians.
Cady and M3GAN bond instantly and the latter soon becomes part of the family. However, things take a scary turn when M3GAN begins to show violent impulses against humans.
The movie has been well received by audiences and critics – it currently stands at a whopping 95% on Rotten Tomatoes. This is because of its clever blend of humour and campy horror coupled with solid writing and performances.
The movie runs for 102 minutes – but does M3GAN have a post-credits scene?

M3GAN culminates with the eponymous doll slaughtering Gemma’s boss and colleague at the Funki offices. She then steals a car and returns to Gemma’s house.
After the two have a confrontation and disturb Cady, a fight breaks out during which M3GAN tries to kill Gemma.
M3GAN ends up being horrifically disfigured but nearly gets the best of the pair. Thankfully, at the movie’s climax, Gemma manages to expose M3GAN’s processing chip just in time for Cady to destroy it with a screwdriver.
Now brain dead, M3GAN is apparently destroyed. But is that where the story ends?
Does M3GAN have a post-credits scene? No, M3GAN does not have a post-credits scene or a mid-credits scene.
However, the movie does have an interesting pre-credits scene that leaves things open for a sequel.
Right after Gemma and Cady defeat M3GAN, the two leave the house and are greeted by the police and Gemma’s worried colleagues.
As they’re walking out the front door, the camera remains focussed on the Elsie smart device (as seen in the image above) that is sat on the counter. The device somehow turns itself on and turns to watch Gemma and Cady as they leave.
In the movie, we saw M3GAN control connected smart devices numerous times. It appears that before being destroyed, she has somehow uploaded her consciousness to the cloud. This could easily allow her to return in a potential sequel.
