Another day, another Warzone 2 Resurgence map leak. At this point, there seems to be a new one every few days. And they aren’t showing any signs of slowing down. But they can’t all be real. So, is there any truth to the latest Warzone 2 Resurgence map leak?
Earlier this week, Reddit user u/iamDEVANS posted an image to r/CODWarzone of what is apparently the unannounced Resurgence/Rebirth map coming soon to Warzone 2.0.
Despite supposedly “confirmed” rumours of a Hashima Island inspired Resurgence map, this new leak shows something completely different, only adding to the ever increasing ridiculousness of the ongoing speculation.
Still, the new Resurgence map leak has gained traction online. And many believe that it is, in fact, legitimate.
But with so many different reports floating around, how can fans know what’s real and what’s not?
What Does The New Warzone 2 Resurgence Map Leak Show?
To avoid any potential repercussions, we won’t share the leaked image here. Essentially, it shows the rumoured new Resurgence map and its key points of interest.
From what has been shared, the map looks quite uninspiring. The topography of the area also suggests the map is set in a different part of the world to Al Mazrah.
As with Rebirth, this new map is set on an island. At its heart is ‘Castle’, which appears to be a heavily fortified compound surrounded by a moat. To the north are POIs ‘Water Treatment’, ‘Residential’, and ‘Shipwreck’. In the west the island has ‘Power Plant’, ‘Apartments’, and ‘Greenhouses’. To the east there is ‘Port’, and then moving round to the south there are ‘Industrial Ruins’ and ‘Beach Club’. Finally, at the bottom of the island is ‘Town Center’, which appears to double as another port-like location.
From the single leaked image, the map looks to be smaller in size than Rebirth Island; although, that can’t be said for certain as no scale is given.
Is The New Warzone 2 Resurgence Map Leak Real?
Rebirth Island was an incredibly popular map and the Resurgence game mode has been notably absent from Warzone 2.0.
As a result, fans of the mode are hoping this new Warzone 2 Resurgence map leak is real. But many said the same about the recent Hashima Island rumours. And both can’t be true.
Is the new Warzone 2 Resurgence map leak real? While nothing is officially confirmed, the new leak appears to be real. This is because DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) takedown requests have reportedly been issued against users reposting the leaked image. And if the image wasn’t copyrighted by Activision, such requests wouldn’t be issued.
DMCA takedown requests are normally sent when a publication or content creator shares content they do not own. They are used to prevent outside sources breaking stories before an official announcement is ready to be made.
However, if the reports of DMCA takedowns are legitimate, Activision may have inadvertently confirmed the leak. In many ways, it’s best to let speculation like this proliferate without comment as most fans will dismiss it as unofficial.
Even though it appears this new Warzone 2 Resurgence map leak is real, it’s still best to take it with a pinch of salt. Until a new Rebirth Island map is officially announced, it’s all just unsubstantiated speculation.
