Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been with us for more than a month. Despite a mixed reception to some of its features (particularly Warzone 2.0) it has proven to be one of the most successful CoD games of all time. Last month saw the return of Shoot House – a fan-favourite map from the previous Modern Warfare. But now fans are asking “when is Shipment coming to MW2?”
In case you’ve never played a Call of Duty game before this year’s Modern Warfare 2, Shipment is probably one of the most beloved and chaotic multiplayer maps of them all.
Shipment is one of the smallest maps in CoD history. In previous games, it was a small shipping yard packed with large containers. As a result, players had to navigate its incredibly tight spaces while competing in fast-paced, non-stop combat. Overall, it made for a fun and exhilarating experience.
Over the years Shipment has undergone a number of minor redesigns. For example, in Call of Duty: World War II it was rebranded as ‘Shipment 1944’ and featured wooden containers. However, the essence of the map remained the same. And it was just as chaotic as ever.
So, will Modern Warfare 2 feature a redesigned version of Shipment? And when is Shipment coming to MW2?
Is Shipment Coming To MW2?
Shipment made its debut back in 2007’s revolutionary Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. And it has been a firm fan-favourite ever since.
The map has appeared in many Call of Duty games since its debut in CoD 4. However, the 2019 version in the rebooted Modern Warfare proved particularly popular.
Shipment was the ultimate place for levelling up guns and completing camo challenges. Without it, most players wouldn’t have been able to attain their coveted gold guns.
Since Modern Warfare 2 was announced, fans have been wondering if the beloved map will be returning in the new sequel.
So, is Shipment coming to MW2? Infinity Ward has officially confirmed that Shipment is coming to Modern Warfare 2 in a mid-Season 01 update.
Redesign
As mentioned, Shipment has received a number of redesigns over the years that have tweaked the look and layout of the chaotic and claustrophobic map.
Shipment is set to receive a new redesign in Modern Warfare 2. And it’s inspired by the unique campaign mission ‘Dark Water’.
Shipment MW2 Redesign: Modern Warfare 2‘s version of Shipment will take the action away from the classic ship yard and onto the deck of a ship.
What’s more, MW2‘s Shipment will take place at sea. Vanguard‘s iteration of the map allowed players to run just outside the boundary – but that won’t be the case in Modern Warfare 2.

Set on a cargo ship taking on water in a storm-ridden part of the Atlantic Ocean, a new Shipment is ready to bring back the chaos that only an ultra-compact map can provide. Thinking about working around and off the map’s boundaries, which was possible in previous versions? You might find yourself all at sea…
Shipment MW2 description.
Those who played the Modern Warfare 2 campaign will remember that Dark Water featured a swaying boat caught in a storm. It had shipping containers hazardously sliding across the deck.
Thankfully, MW2‘s Shipment won’t feature the sliding containers – but it will have the vicious rain storm adding some much needed atmosphere to proceedings.
When Is Shipment Coming To MW2?
So, we know that Shipment is coming to Modern Warfare 2 in a mid-Season 01 update. But Infinity Ward’s official announcement didn’t confirm exactly when that would be.
Thankfully, some reliable Call of Duty rumour pages have given fans an indication of when they can expect the new Shipment to land.
When is Shipment coming to MW2? According to reputable Call of Duty news website CharlieIntel, the Season 01 Reloaded update and Shipment are coming to Modern Warfare 2 on 14 December 2022.
With Shipment expected to land in time for the holidays, players will have lots of time to jump into the manic multiplayer map, level up their weapons, and complete those camo challenges over the coming weeks!
Update 13 December 2022: The official Call of Duty website has confirmed that Season 01 Reloaded and Shipment will launch on 14 December at 10AM PT.
