This guide explains how to open Pilgrim Gate in God of War Ragnarok.
God of War Ragnarok is the sequel to 2018’s acclaimed God of War reboot. After four years, it’s safe to say fans are relishing the chance to jump back into Kratos’ god-sized shoes.
Despite delays and a release on the PS4 that prompted concerns, God of War Ragnarok has launched to astonishingly strong reviews. With 10-out-of-10’s abound, it’s clear the game is a standout title for Sony and a worthy successor to the 2018 game.
In the new sequel, we rejoin Kratos and Atreus as they journey to stop the cataclysmic Ragnarok and learn more about the latter’s true identity as the god Loki.
Along the way the father and son duo join forces with some old friends and come up against new, dangerous foes like Thor and Odin. However, after four years, it can be difficult to remember the story of the previous game and who everyone is.
The same goes for God of War Ragnarok‘s gameplay, too.
Despite sinking tens of hours into the last game, it’s only natural to forget how things work in this follow-up. Be it in combat, navigation, skills, or collectibles.
After completing the main quest in Vanaheim and reuniting Freya with her brother, a couple of side quests (Favours) become available for Kratos to complete.
Two of them, one for Frey and one for Lunda, take you down to The Souther Wilds of Vanaheim.
If you follow the river past the Cliffside Ruins, you will come to the Pilgrim Gate. At first glance, it looks like a solid rock face – but it can be opened. And you need to open it in order to progress.
So, let’s go over how to open the Pilgrim Gate in God of War Ragnarok…
How To Open Pilgrim Gate in God of War Ragnarok
Getting through the Pilgrim Gate is essential to finding Lunda’s orb (a key part of getting her special armour) and reaching Freya’s wedding site.
Past the Pilgrim Gate are The Veiled Passage, Goddess Falls, and Vanir Shrine. Each of these areas contain a number of special collectibles and are well worth visiting.
This is how to open the Pilgrim Gate in God of War Ragnarok:
Row back out and dock on the Cliffside Ruins beach just over the river from Brok’s shop.
Defeat the enemies then go left (south) under the crumbled arch to the wall with the torch next to the rock face.
Climb the wall to the walkway above.
Through the passage on the right is a chest, be sure to loot it for one of Lunda’s armour pieces.
Back outside, jump the gap to the platform opposite.
Jump across to the platform on the left (to the right is a chest).
From there, chain together Freya’s hexes and use the Blades to ignite the vines which will lower the chain.
Head back down and climb the chain.
At the top, follow the path round, then draw a rune on the lock to unlock the Pilgrim Gate.
And there you have it – now the Pilgrim Gate will be open and you can push onwards.
