This guide explains the solution to the Svartalfheim Rune Chests in Aurvangar Wetlands in God of War Ragnarok.
It has been four years since the release of 2018’s God of War. After that game set such a tremendously high bar and left fans on one almighty cliffhanger, it has been difficult to see how God of War Ragnarok could possibly meet expectations.
Thankfully, God of War Ragnarok has delivered an all-time classic experience. And this sterling sequel is bound to be in contention with Elden Ring for 2022 Game of the Year. It currently stands at a colossal 94/100 on Metacritic having received many 10 out of 10 reviews.
God of War Ragnarok follows father and son duo Kratos and Atreus, the latter now a teenager, as they battle to stop Ragnarok with Fimbulwinter drawing to a close.
Being as a few years have passed since the last game was released, it is likely fans will have to get reacquainted with God of War Ragnarok‘s lore and gameplay.
The new game picks up right where the previous one left off. And there’s a helpful re-cap option in the main menu.
Nonetheless, refreshing your memory on the story, and wrapping your head around the fast paced action and numerous puzzles can be difficult.
One feature that returns from the previous game are Rune Chests.
Rune Chests are special, locked containers that contain valuable loot. There are 34 Rune Chests in God of War Ragnarok.
The first thirty contain either an Apple of Idunn (which increases overall HP) or a Horn of the Blood Mead (which increases overall Rage).
The other four will generate random rewards like Hacksilver and Enchantments.
With Rune Chests containing valuable stat boosting items, opening as many as possible is essential.
So, let’s go over how to open the Svartalfheim Rune Chests in Aurvangar Wetlands in God of War Ragnarok…
God of War Ragnarok – Svartalfheim Rune Chests in Aurvangar Wetlands
To open Rune Chests, players need to find three seals bearing the same runes as the chest.
Once found, the three seals must be either destroyed, set alight, spun, or have its bell rung. Which one depends on the type of Seal – but it will be the same for all three Seals relating to one particular chest.
As you’d expect, the seals are located in difficult to find areas near the Rune Chests. Some are much easier to find than others. But it isn’t unusual to spend fifteen minutes running around looking high and low for the last one.
This is where to find the seals for the Svartalfheim Rune Chests in Aurvangar Wetlands:
Seal Locations
Svartalfheim Rune Chest 1
Svartalfheim’s first chest is located on an eastern beach in the Aurvangar Wetlands. After freezing the geyser, jump across it and then again to the right.
The first seal can be found to the right of the chest.
The second seal is directly behind the Rune Chest on a small island.
The final seal is next to the tree on the cliff above. Jump back over the water, freeze the geyser on the left, then use the Chaos Blades to climb up.
Svartalfheim Rune Chest 2
For this puzzle, the seals must be spun to match the three runes shown on the chest.
The first rune is located to the right of the chest behind a geyser. Freeze it then spin it round to the correct symbol.
The second spinning rune seal is through the arch way on the right.
The next spinning rune is located up a ledge to the far right of the chest. Once you have climbed up, look up to the right.
