Ubisoft unveiled the future of Assassin’s Creed at the Ubisoft Forward 2022 event. Fans were treated to first looks at four Assassin’s Creed games. They are Mirage, Red, Hexe, and Jade. While each game is intriguing, one is certainly more mysterious than the rest. And it has left many fans asking “what is Assassin’s Creed Hexe?”.

Ubisoft was tight-lipped about Codename Hexe at Ubisoft Forward 2022. We know slightly more about Codename Red and Codename Jade. But it seems Ubisoft want to create an air of mystery around Hexe.

The company also announced Assassin’s Creed Infinity. Infinity, however, is not a game. It will instead act as a service in which future Assassin’s Creed games will be part of.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is due for release in 2023 for Windows, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Luna. It is the next main entry in the series and will be set during the Islamic Golden Age in Baghdad.

The game will feature Basim Ibn Ishaq, a character first introduced in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Mirage will also revert the series back to its stealth roots and focus more heavily on assassinations than RPG elements.

Codename Red – which is set in Feudal Japan – will be released after Mirage and will be the first title included with Infinity.

So, what is Assassin’s Creed Hexe? What do we know about the game, where is it set, and when will it be released? Keep reading to find out what we know about Hexe so far…

What is Assassin’s Creed Hexe?

It’s the question on everyone’s mind as it’s the future Assassin’s Creed game Ubisoft has shared the least about. And that’s what makes it so intriguing!

What is Assassin’s Creed Hexe? Assassin’s Creed Hexe was announced by Ubisoft at Ubisoft Forward 2022. It will be the next flagship Assassin’s Creed game following Codename Red and the second to be released via Assassin’s Creed Infinity.

Assassin’s Creed Hexe Trailer

Ubisoft has shared a brief 30-second trailer for Hexe. You can watch it here.

The reveal trailer features a dead leaf falling from a tree in a dark forest. Ominous music plays as dogs bark in the distance.

As the camera follows the leaf as it falls, an Assassin insignia made from twigs can be seen hanging from a tree above what appears to be a fire.

As the trailer ends, the logo for the game is revealed. It features an octagram.

When is Assassin’s Creed Hexe set?

Ubisoft hasn’t confirmed the setting of Assassin’s Creed Hexe. However, Bloomberg previously reported that Hexe will be set during the later part of the Holy Roman Empire and “revolves around witch trials” in Central Europe.

The game’s trailer appears to support this claim and hints strongly at witchcraft as a key theme for Hexe.

Who Is Developing Assassin’s Creed Hexe?

Ubisoft Montreal is developing AC Hexe. They are the team behind the original Assassin’s Creed and – most recently – Valhalla. Development is being led by Clint Hocking.

Assassin’s Creed Hexe Release Date

When is Assassin’s Creed Hexe coming out? No official release date has been provided by Ubisoft. However, we know that Mirage is due to be released in 2023. This will be followed by Codename Red. Ubisoft has announced that Hexe will come after Red.

So, it stands to reason that Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red could launch in 2024. This suggests a possible 2025 release date for Hexe.
